House & Gite (3).jpg

La Maison Neuve

The main house and additional buildings sit in 3 hectares (8 acres) of land, comprising of a walled formal garden, raised vegetable garden and fields. The field nearest to the garden is maintained and enclosed, providing our dogs Louis and Eric a great play space, and hours of fun hunting for moles.

In the Summer the two top fields are full of horses from the stables of our neighbours and friends, the Haras des Louveux. As horse riders ourselves, we love having their company, as well as spotting the abundance of birds of prey flying over our land such as Sparrow hawks, Kestrels and Buzzards.

We enjoy a full life here integrated into the community of Le Molay Littry, and with passions for history, both military and social;  we are happy to answer your questions about the area - from the best places to eat to places of interest to visit that may not appear in general tourist information! - but are equally happy to respect your privacy. You will find lots of information in the gite to help you plan your holiday, including up-to-date leaflets on places to go and things to see.

Since retirement we have completed the restoration of The Carriage House where you will stay and along with Louis and Eric look forward to welcoming you.

Us.jpg

We are Gary and Rosie Piggott, who with a love of France and its people, realised our dream in 2009 when we bought La Maison Neuve, just on the outskirts of Le Molay Littry. Situated in a beautiful rural setting, we have lovingly restored the main house and gardens, whilst juggling our careers in the British Army for Gary, and the Beauty Industry for Rosie.

Gary joined the Coldstream Guards when he was 16 years of age, and worked his way through the ranks, retiring as a Major. Along with the ceremonial duties of the regiment, Gary was deployed in every conflict the British Army has been involved in since Northern Ireland, and was awarded an MBE for his services in Iraq in 2006.

Gary is passionate about military history, especially that of Operation Overlord, and is only too happy to share his knowledge with you. He can also provide private Battlefield Tours tailored for you, at a competitive rate, dependant on your requirements.

Rosie’s career began in the fashion industry, starting as a management trainee and working her way up to senior management. Rosie then joined the beauty industry where she worked at the L’Oréal Group Headquarters in London in training and customer services, ending her career with the global luxury spa brand ESPA, where she was a Marketing Consultant. Rosie is also a qualified Cambridge English as a second Language teacher (CELTA).

Rosie’s raison d’étre is to ensure her guests feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable.
In 2015, Gary retired from the British Army as a Major of The Coldstream Guards, Rosie stopped working; and we now live here permanently with our two very friendly dogs, Louis and Ollie.
